President Ro Jae-hun attended the 4th Annual Meeting of the International Advisory Board of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government

On May 15, the 4th Annual Meeting of the International Advisory Board of Chengdu Municipal People’s Government was held in Chengdu. Twenty-four advisors and representatives attended the meeting, including Ro Jae-hun, President of the East Asia Culture Center in Korea; Peter Burnett, President of the China-Britain Business Council; Vijay Jagannathan, Senior Fellow at the World Resources Institute; and Jing Ming, President of Alstom China.

The theme of this year’s meeting was: “Promoting High-Quality Development Through High-Level Openness and Accelerating the Construction of a Hub for International Exchanges in Western China.” The Chengdu government actively listened to the opinions and suggestions of the international advisory board.

Regarding the development of Chengdu’s AI and cultural and creative industries, President Ro Jae-hun suggested that Chengdu leverage its unique charm, actively engage in international cooperation, integrate with globally competitive industries, and attract top international talent. The goal, he proposed, should be to achieve a synergy between housing, education, employment, and entrepreneurship.

He also recommended that the government introduce incentive policies to attract more Korean companies and young people to take an interest in and actively participate in Chengdu's development. Furthermore, he advised creating a sound industrial and market environment in Chengdu to support the healthy growth of Korean enterprises and facilitate their investment in the city. In particular, he emphasized the need to expand both the scope and substance of the “China-Korea Innovation and Entrepreneurship Park” by incorporating elements centered on Korea’s youth-driven cultural content industry and related sectors to further promote its development.
